Brief CV of Eleni Anna Chlepa

Architect and historian of architecture and conservation, with over thirty years of experience in restoration and valorization of cultural heritage sites. She holds a Bsc in Architecture at the School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens, a Msc in the Study and Restoration of Monuments, University of Rome, 1986, and a PhD in History of Architecture, School of Architecture – Athenw, 2008 (subject: Byzantine monuments in Modern Greece. Ideology and Practice of The Restoration 1833-1939).

She has given lectures on the history of architecture, history of conservation and restoration projects in Master degree programs in Greek and Italian universities. She is author of books on Hellenistic and Byzantine architecture in Greece and has published articles in books, journals, papers in conferences on the history of architecture and conservation, restoration works, theoretical and methodological aspects on cultural heritage preservation, urban upgrading and rehabilitation. Since 1987 she has been working in Cultural Heritage Conservation of different historical periods’ monuments and sites. She has carried out architectural studies and archaeological surveys, historical and archival research, assessment of built heritage or archaeological testimonies in Greece and Cyprus. Her work has been internationally recognized and she has been awarded national and international prizes (Europa Nostra).
