Brief CV of Antonia Theodosiou

Dipl. Ing. Architect and Environmental Engineer with masters in restoration of monuments. Certified tourist guide. Board member of ICOMOS-CYPRUS, CYPRUS ENERGY ANGENCY, MIO-ECSDE [Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development] and S.P.S. [International Association for the multidisciplinary study of drystone construction]. Expert member of ISCEAH [ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Earthen Architectural Heritage].

Involved as a consultant in projects and European consortiums concerning contemporary architecture, restoration and rehabilitation of traditional and buildings, monuments and sites, eco design of buildings and open spaces, introduction of renewable energy sources, design of ecotourism dwellings, preparation and implementation of management action plans and policies for traditional settlements and nature protected sites.

Participation in national and international conferences and workshops referring to cultural heritage, sustainable development and nature protection as an accomplished speaker, as well as an activist.

1997, awarded by Europa Nostra for “successfully restoring an important traditional house using the old materials and methods and incorporating the ancient tombs found during the works thus setting an excellent example for conserving archaeological remains within private property”.

1997, appointed by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture to represent Cyprus in the field of Architecture at the Biennale of European and Mediterranean countries in Turin-Italy.

2006 and 2009, awarded by the Cyprus Association of Civil Engineers and Architects in the memory of Alexis Theodosiadis for the restoration of a listed building in Nicosia and its conversion into a cultural centre, as well for the restoration of 6 listed buildings in Nicosia and their conversion into museums.

2011, represented Cyprus at the Council of Europe’s Landscape Award of the European Landscape Convention and gained a citation as “an example of good practice as regards protection, management and planning of landscapes” for a rehabilitation cultural landscape project in a NATURA2000 site in Cyprus.

1996 Co-Author of a book on the traditional architecture, the cultural and natural landscape of the Akamas peninsula in Cyprus.

2017-18 Co-Author of a book to be published on the drystone cultural landscape in Cyprus.
